About me

Hello!

I’m Tabitha Bird, a children’s author and illustrator with a passion for bringing stories to life through words and pictures. Ever since I could hold a crayon, I’ve been creating colourful characters and imagining magical worlds — and now, I’m on a journey to share those adventures with young readers everywhere.

My illustrations are created by layering hand-painted papers and are full of quirk!

My stories explore important topics like finding your voice, building confidence, and supporting mental and emotional well-being. Through heartfelt stories and playful illustrations, I aim to create a safe and joyful space where children can see themselves, feel heard, and discover their own inner strength.

I have a B.Education and am also the author of two adult fiction books with Penguin Random House Australia.

When I’m not writing or drawing, you can find me cuddling Skittles, a small cat with a huge personality. I’m always dreaming up new characters and can’t wait to share more adventures — and important conversations — with readers!
